So, I went a got myself a new theme for this little corner of my universe. Please be patient over the next couple of days as I figure it out! Html/CSS are definitely NOT my strong suits, so it might take a few days of looking like crap before I get it sorted.
Anniversary, that is.
May 27th, 2006 was *quite* a day. It’ll go down in the history books. It was the day that Tristan and I met for the first time. We had our first date, starting with lunch at The Laughing Seed, in Asheville… and the date never really ended. We refer to it as “The Awkward Seven”. As in 7 hours! We ate, we talked (nervously), we shopped for a b’day gift for his Mom, we drove out onto the Biltmore Estate on the employee only roads so I could show him around, and then we came back to my apartment so he could check out my music collection. Seven. Hours.
We started our fast-paced romance that day. At the time, we lived 3 hours apart (I was in Asheville and he lived outside of Charlotte); and Tristan came up to see me again that following Tuesday just 36 hours after he had left. And again. And again. Every weekend, for nearly 6 months. After 6 months, we were ready to live in the same city. In the same apartment, in fact.
Moving Day... Dec. 16th, 2006. (We look so young!)
We’ve definitely weathered our share of storms…and helped each other through the good and the bad. We are both the better for it, and stronger than ever.
Happy Anniversary, Tristan! I love you.
I am silly, no?
(Even if I do this to you in pictures…)
Easter egg hunts…
… and baking Emily’s Jelly Surprise Muffins…
The Farmers Market…
… and local STRAWBERRIES!
Reading Tina Fey’s new book, Bossypants…
A handsome man to pump my gas… (NOT loving the cost though – eeeks!)
Two days off work, with a day of shopping and lunch out thrown in…
Getting dirt delivered for my gardens…
And… this guy…
At the Farmers Market on Saturday morning, we saw snow!
Okay, okay, so it was light.
Can you see the tiny flake?
But still. It was snow. Bigger flakes than this were falling, but they were melting as soon as they touched anything. It was all I could do to (barely) focus the camera and snap the photo before it melted!
That same day we also had some freezing rain, and hail! It was a crazy Saturday, weather-wise.
I was very productive in the kitchen on Sunday… and managed to knock out a loaf of whole wheat honey banana bread (thanks to 2 overripe bananas sitting in the fruit basket), a batch of my granola, African peanut stew (for lunches during the week), hummus, and finally whole wheat pizza for dinner. (I am still working on getting all of my recipes up on here, to share). I had a couple of other things on the agenda that got bumped, thanks to a quick trip to Kohl’s to spend my Kohl’s Cash (free money!) and a latte and chat session with my Mom. My homemade dog treats will have to wait until later this week… Sorry Lilly!
It is c-c-c-cold here… so anything besides taking the dog out for a quick walk or playtime is just not happening! It was 18 degrees this morning! I actually like the fall and winter, and would rather be cold than hot any day. But still. This is NC. We aren’t used to this. I have lost my Illinois blood, and am now a wussie Southerner in that regard (as much as it pains me to admit). Brrrr. I need to get back into the habit of using the treadmill, now that it is officially winter weather in the Queen City.
This is going to be a good week… I’m already on day #2 of a 4 day week this week. I have Friday off from work, woo! It’s very out of the ordinary, but certainly no complaints here! Christmas shopping and decorating awaits!
